A member of PennDOT District 10, which serves Indiana, Armstrong, Butler, Jefferson and Clarion counties, was honored with their employee Innovation Awards.
The awards are given to PennDOT employees who improve work practices and create efficiencies. The District 10 award went to Tim Clevenger of Clymer, who improved safety and increasing productions by using a Tree Shear for most tree removal operations in the Department’s Right-Of Way. In a statement, District Executive Brian Allen said that crews have to be very aware of their surroundings when they are working out of a bucket truck or using a chainsaw on the ground, and the use of the Tree Shear actually eliminates many of the hazards as part of that job. With the Tree Shear, crews can top the tree and lay the top right at the chipper. The tree shear can reach over guide rails and operate up or down steep banks. It increases productivity and safety and can be used with fewer operators.

Clevenger will receive a special award that will represent his dedication and commitment to efficient and effective operations at all levels of the organization.
