One of the suspects in a major drug ring in Indiana and Cambria counties that was broken up in 2021 was sentenced yesterday in federal court.
U.S. District Judge Marilyn Horan ordered 60-year-old James Pearcy to serve 108 months in prison and four years of supervised release for his conviction on charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Authorities said that Pearcy conspired with others to distribute cocaine in the Western PA region between January and June of 2021. He was intercepted on a federal wiretap obtaining quantities of cocaine for further distribution. The ring’s breakup was announced in August of 2021. Many of the suspects were from the Johnstown region, but there were several others involved, including an Indiana County resident.
U.S. District Attorney Eric Olshan said the prosecution was part of an investigation of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces, which identifies, disrupts and dismantles the highest-level drug traffickers, money launderers, gangs and transitional criminal organizations.
