The Steelers’ Alex Highsmith missed practice again yesterday and it’s highly unlikely that he will suit up tomorrow night against the Browns in Cleveland. He rolled his ankle against Washington and was replaced on Sunday by Nick Herbig at outside linebacker.
Tight end MyCole Pruitt returned as a full practice participant. He’s been nursing a knee injury. Cornerback Corey Trice was also a full participant. The Steelers have to activate him in the next two weeks or he will have to miss the rest of the season. Trice has missed seven games with a hamstring injury.
Quarterback Russell Wilson says the Browns are still a top defensive team despite their 2-8 record, especially with defensive lineman Myles Garrett.
Garrett tried to stir up some trouble with TJ Watt yesterday, saying the Steelers’ linebacker owes him an apology for not showing up at the NFL awards ceremony last year when Garrett won Defensive Player of the Year. Watt chose to ignore the comments.
The oldest Steeler, Cam Heyward, says playing on a Thursday after a physically demanding game on Sunday against the Ravens isn’t ideal, but the Steelers have the right approach.
Watt says the Browns and Steelers always fight hard against each other, but that’s the norm across the league.
Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 8:15. We’re on the air on WDAD with the pregame at 6:15.
