Pennsylvania Transportation Secretary Mike Carroll is letting state residents know they can wait until after the May seventh deadline to get a Real ID.
Carroll says if you already have a passport or are not planning to fly soon it could be a good idea to hold off on getting the federally-accepted ID until later, after long lines diminish and wait times decrease. The secretary says PennDOT locations will be open on most Mondays for the foreseeable future to help accommodate more visitors, although, they will be closed this coming Monday following the Easter holiday.
Carroll is also suggesting that folks use online services for registration renewals and other requests that don’t require an in-person visit.
