It wasn’t a good home opener for the Altoona Curve as they lost to the former Bowie, now Chesapeake Baysox 3-2.
Jack Brannigan got the Curve on the board by drawing a bases-loaded walk in the first, and a solo shot from Brenden Dixon in the second gave the Curve a 2-0 lead. But four walks by Curve Reliever Cristofer Melendez plated a run in the eighth for the Baysox followed by a Reed Trimble RBI groundout. The Baysox took the lead in the 9th with a solo homer from Jermiah Jackson.
Pitcher Hunter Barco had a great start, with four scoreless innings, scattering six base runners and notching three strikeouts on 52 pitches, 36 of them strikes. The two teams continue the short series tonight with Wilber Dotel starting for the Curve.
