We are just two days away from the start of IUP’s football season. The Crimson Hawks will take on Ashland in a rematch of last year’s Division II playoff game, won by IUP, 19-13. Last night on Hawk Talk on Renda Digital TV and U92 radio, head coach Paul Tortorella joined Jack Benedict at the Hilton Garden Inn to talk Crimson Hawks football.
Tortorella says IUP and Ashland are two different teams than the ones that played last November, but there are plenty of guys who remember that day at Miller Stadium.

Tortorella says he has never experienced a turnaround quite like this, where Ashland is essentially playing back-to-back games at IUP while the Hawks have only the subsequent playoff loss to Shepherd since that game.
IUP will start Colorado Mesa transfer quarterback Karst Hunter on Thursday night. Tortorella says Hunter has settled in with the Crimson Hawks and is becoming more comfortable every day.

The coach says the 6-4 South Dakota native Hunter has done an admirable job of getting used to a new offense with new terminology, at a new school in a new conference.
You’ll hear Thursday night’s game on 92.5 FM U92 and on u92radio.com.
