The Teddy Bear Fund Drive has been one of Indiana County’s most leading charitable drives for more than 40 years, and one local business is already kicking this year’s drive off to a hot start.
First Commonwealth Bank runs an annual partnership with the Pittsburgh Penguins where they donate $5 for each goal the Penguins score in the regular season, and at the end of each season all the money is collected and donated towards the Teddy Bear Fund Drive. This year’s season, however, presented many questions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which shortened the Penguins’ season.
Chad Martin, Financial Solutions Business Banker at First Commonwealth Bank, said on Indiana in the Morning that, despite the challenges, First Commonwealth was able to donate $1,000 towards the drive.
Martin adds that being a part of the Teddy Bear Fund Drive adds to their commitment of holding relationships with the community.
Funds collected during the Teddy Bear Fund Drive are donated to the pediatrics unit at both the Indiana Regional Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Renda Media’s Mark Bertig said that both hospitals were able to upgrade their units in multiple ways with the donated funds.
The next Teddy Bear Fund Drive event is the 9th Annual Teddy Bear Fun Ride, which is scheduled for August 1st. More information on that can be found on our Facebook page.
